Your custom curved benchwork can be configured to fit any footprint.

No mechanical limitations.

No box like mass production units.

Total free form in 3 dimensions.

Scroll through the pages for variations.

There are many good mediums with which a suitable layout can be built.  Stud wall. metal stud modules and built-ins, 2x ? dimensional solid lumber, 2" foam on shelf brackets, Linn Wescott's "L girder", etc. etc.  Each method has it's strong and weak points.

Custom benchwork can be constructed for you in any discipline or combination of disciplines.

The examples on these pages use 1/2" and 3/4"  Birch/Maple plywood sheets and some custom laminated Birch plywood curved side rails.

MDO G-1 or G-2 (medium density overly good one or two sides) commonly called "signboard" is also an excellent plywood, available in 3/8", 1/2" & 3/4" in my market.

Please click around this site to view the variety of benchwork styles available.   I am neither a photographer nor website builder so this effort is just to convey the general idea.  :>)

Anything can be made to accomodate your benchwork needs.   No matter what your thoughts are, just consider it done!

All work displayed on these pages is origional.  You are free to copy  or improve upon anything on this site.

Referance to my work is appreciated.

Thank you for touring,

Several views of wall mounted knees to support open grid benchwork or a series of modules:First, lay out mounting positions so as to be centered on a cinder block web.  I have used both 16" centers and 32" centers. Belt sand wall clean with extreamly course grit belt for good adhesive seating.

Apply premium poly adhesive

After having predrilled the top hole and inserted the Hilti 3/8" diameter plug into the block at the web position mount the 2 X 4 then snug up and drill for second 3/8" X 3" stud.

In the bottom half of the 2" X 4" X 32" I use two Tap cons to add strength in shear.

This is the East wall completed in studs.

Bottom two views show the wall of studs and a series of 32" X 32" knees of 3/4" plywood.

Each knee will support at least 220 lbs.

Modules or open grid construction can be now installed.

No legs are needed with this style of construction.
